Why is servicing your car important?
Servicing your car is a vital part of vehicle ownership. It is as important as refuelling your car and gives you piece of mind that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition. Irrespective of the age or price of your vehicle, a service undertaken by a qualified technician can ensure that your vehicle is safe, reliable and efficient.
Here at Plox Motors Ltd, we have on-line access to all vehicle schedules and specifications through the online Autodata Electronic Vehicle Information System.
Protecting your warranty
Government legislation passed in 2003 called Block Exemption means that an independent garage can now carry out your car service, so that the warranty is still protected – this now means you no longer need to use a main dealer to do your car service.
At Plox Motors Ltd, we use GENUINE car parts of OE (Original Equipment) standard, making sure your warranty is protected at all times. Main dealers may try to influence your decision to stay with them, but the reality is that a car service or car repair with Plox Motors Ltd is just as good, if not better and is always likely to be cheaper than what a main dealer charges.
In most cases, main dealers and independent garages use the same car parts suppliers in the UK, so any misleading comments by a main dealer trying to entice you into staying with them are not really warranted. All our car parts are GENUINE approved car parts of OE standard.
Oil Service
To enable us to advise on future maintenance, we keep a record of your vehicle’s services history. We have now introduced a 50-point check list, for you to keep, which includes a full tyre report for your vehicle when it has been serviced.

- Check vehicle history
- Check timing belt replacement interval
- Check for damage to bodywork, lamps and trims
- Fit Protective covers
- Check condition and operation of all seatbelts
- Check operation of exterior lights
- Check operation of ABS and/or airbag warning lights
- Check windscreen washers and wipers
- Check horn
- Lubricate all door hinges
- Apply treatments to remove internal contamination if required
- Check for additional service schedules
- Check anti-freeze protection
- Check brake fluid point
- Check all auxiliary drive belts
- Check power steering operation and fluid condition
- Check battery level and lubricate terminals
- Check and top-up all under bonnet fluid levels
- Change oil, filter and fit new sump plug washer
- Check and top-up rear axle and transfer box oil levels*
- Check and top-up gear box oil level
- Re-check engine oil level and coolant level
- Check under bonnet for any items
- Reset service lights
- Ensure all upholstery, gear lever, steering wheel, etc are clean
- Stamp service book
- Grease all greasing points
- Refill engine oil
- Road test vehicle and report any findings

- Replace pollen filter*
- Change oil, filter and fit new sump plug washer
- Check fuel lines and brake pipes
- Check the condition and the security of the exhaust
- Check and top-up rear axle and transfer box oil levels*
- Check and top-up gear box oil level
- Check all steering and suspension joints, mounting and gaiters
- Carry out tyre report
- Check all wheel bearings for excessive play and noise (adjust if required)
- Check CV gaitors and joints for wear or splits
- Grease all greasing points
- Check operation and condition of front brakes
- Check operation and condition of rear brakes (including handbrake)
- Refill engine oil
- Torque wheel nuts/ studs
- Road test vehicle and report any findings
- Re-check engine oil level & coolant level
- Check under bonnet for any items
- Reset service lights
- Ensure all upholstery, gear lever, steering wheel, etc are clean
- Stamp service book
